Donald Cunningham joins Phoenix Capital Resources with seven years of experience in financial services, capital markets and capital advisory services. Donald has advised some of the largest multi-national companies on tens of billions of dollars in capital raise. Prior to joining Phoenix, he specialized in structured fixed income products, primarily within the financial institutions sector.
Selected Investment Banking Transactions
Advised student loan company (along with consortium of investment banks) on $31BB asset-backed commercial paper conduit transaction when third-party withdrew plans for a leveraged buyout.
Regularly executed on term loan transactions in asset-backed markets for credit card issuers, student loan lenders and banks, ranging from $500MM - $2BB per issue.
Managed $60MM future cash flow transaction to fund direct (print) mail marketing campaign for private label credit card issuer.
Offered operational support to start-up consumer finance companies seeking to raise capital and build out lending platforms.
Prior Experience
Prior to joining Phoenix, Donald Cunningham oversaw a P&L of $2.5MM by managing relationships with nearly 30 hedge fund client firms at expert network provider, Gerson Lehrman Group. Previously, he was an investment banker in the Asset Securitization & Financial Institutions Group at Barclays Capital where he covered US consumer and Latin American ABS, the monoline financial guaranty industry and start-up consumer finance companies. Prior to Barclays, Donald was an analyst at Financial Security Assurance covering a range of fixed income products, including: securitization, municipal finance and derivatives in both New York and Tokyo.
Education/Affiliations
Donald Cunningham graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with an undergraduate concentration in Economics. In 2001, he served as the national youth president of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and is currently an Executive Board Member of the BSA’s Manhattan Council. In July 2010, he produced and directed a live stage show in Times Square to celebrate the BSA’s 100th anniversary for an audience of tens of thousands across the country. Donald is an Eagle Scout, a recipient of the BSA’s Distinguished Service Award and a member of the Union League Club of New York. Mr. Cunningham is registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and holds his Series 79 and Series 63 licenses.
